Welcome To Light Fixtures Discount... LED light fixtures will work for both outdoor and indoor lighting systems.... August 2009 ~ Light Fixtures Discount

As the lighting in your bathroom can enhance the overall appearance of the room, you will want bathroom light fixtures that will add a nice touch.

There are many types of light fixtures available, so you have a good range of choices from which you can find the style that will look the best, coordinate well with the décor of your bathroom, and suit your own personal tastes. Light fixtures are for more than holding light bulbs - they are a decorative asset in themselves. Whether your preference is toward something that will stand out and be quite noticeable, brightly polished, or if you prefer understated elegance, there is one that is just perfect for you and will seem almost custom-made for your bathroom.

Think Safety First

Safety is an all-important factor when selecting light fixtures. While some are made of plastic, these are generally not the most desirable choice in the long-run. Painted or varnished light fixtures can also present drawbacks, especially if they are not heat-resistant. If your taste runs toward ceramic fixtures, it is essential to know in advance that neither the material itself nor the coloring contains lead. Many ceramic glazes do contain lead, so it is strongly advised to not use these particular products.

Positioning

When you are considering what types of light fixtures you want to have in your bathroom, it is also a good idea to think about where they will be placed. For example, if your bathroom has wall paper, it is best to not position light bulbs too closely to it. Allowing 100-watt lights to come in close contact with wall paper can cause damage and permanent marks on your walls.

In addition to the safety factor, two other important factors to think about when you are planning to purchase light fixtures include how secure the fixtures will stay in place and how easy it will be to change your light bulbs when it is necessary to do so. Regardless of what specific types of lights you may have, fixtures that can be secured with screws are generally preferable to those which are meant to be attached with suction cups or adhesives. In addition to the moisture in a bathroom, the heat from regular light bulbs will usually cause the latter to not remain in place very long.

Easy Bulb Replacement

As any type of light will need to be replaced, some more frequently than others, having fixtures that will make it relatively easy to do this is beneficial. If you have ever had the experience of a light bulb breaking while you were trying to remove it, you know why this can be an issue. Light sockets, globes, and attachments should be as convenient as they are nice to look at.

Whether your taste is toward an intricate filigree design or a basic stainless steel, the appearance of the room will be enhanced by your choice of this item. When you have considered safety and convenience as the main factors, the bathroom light fixtures that you decide to install can nicely add to the theme of your bathroom.

The trick to using kitchen light fixtures these days is to have different lights to do different jobs. The days when one ceiling fixture at the center of the room would suffice are quickly ending. Now people want a variety of lights to brighten up one of the most important rooms in their house.

Ambient Light For the Entire Kitchen Area

The three basic types of kitchen light fixtures are those that provide ambient, task and mood or accent lighting. The ambient fixtures simply give a widespread light for the entire kitchen area. The task lights focus on each task station. Mood or accent lights add a note of interest, and may illuminate a particular object.

The common ceiling fixture is a lighting choice that offers ambient illumination. There are ceiling fixtures of different shapes, sizes, and styles. Different materials are used, although glass is the most popular. In fact glass is the best, because it gives of plenty of light and is easily washable. Plastic yellows quickly, and it can be hard to clean.

There are alternative ceiling fixtures to choose from other than the plain, flush-with-the-ceiling glass fixtures. Lighting fixtures for ambient light include ceiling fans with lights, mini chandelier lights and pot rack lighting. Mini chandelier fixtures are simply a collection of lights that are put together as one group, yet are not big enough to be a true chandelier. Pot rack lighting is relatively new on the scene, allowing you to use your pot rack over your kitchen island for dual purposes.

Other ambient light sources include fixtures like large hanging pendant lamps, recessed lights, and wall-washers. If you use recessed lights, you must be sure you have plenty of them to brighten up your whole kitchen area. Wall-washers are similar to the recessed version, but they are directed high up on the walls. This reflects and provides a source of overall brightness.

Task Lights Shine on Specific Work Areas

Task lighting is another way kitchen fixtures are used. You will be working in your own shadow if you depend solely on your ceiling fixture to provide all your light. That is why you can benefit from lights focused on the different places where you prepare food or clean the kitchen. Some examples are kitchen track lighting, and under counter lights. Track lighting can be put in at a convenient location, and then the heads can be turned to shine on the areas where you work. You may need several sets of track lights.

The other use of this type of fixtures is mood and accent lighting. You can use small bottom pendant lights for mood lights. Wall sconces also set a certain mood. Accent lights can bathe a favorite painting or figurine in illumination.

New Fluorescents For Your Kitchen

Two things you should know about kitchen light fixtures are concerning fluorescent lights and dimmer switches. First, fluorescents in kitchens used to be a bad idea because they gave everything a bad color. New fluorescents give a warmer light. Second, every source of illumination in your kitchen should be put on a dimmer switch. It will allow you to change the lighting to match any needs you might have. Kitchen light fixtures are available for sale online and in stores. You only need to choose all the ones you need.

Fire extinguishers aren't just nice safety features to have around anymore. The prevalence of chrome extinguishers in modern hotel and restaurant design is starting to revolutionize how the public thinks about one of the inescapable fixtures of modern life: visible safety features.

It's been acceptable practice to mix function and form liberally for some time now. Changes in the law and advances in the technology and apparatus needed for building and displaying a light fixture that meets the modern safety code, for example, allowing interior designers to ensure public safety and still dazzle onlookers with sleek green glass fire exit signs and other helpful glow-in-the-dark signage.

But for a real example of the new design aesthetic working its magic, there's no better showcase than the Caesar Hotel Hyde Park in London.

The Caesar Hotel is known for being a discount hotel for weekend and other short duration travelers to the Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens area. People like to stay there due to its location, its proximity to local subway stations, and its price, easily one of the lowest in the region for the caliber of hotel.

But the Caesar Hotel wasn't without its share of problems. Online travel advisory reports from 2003 to 2005 talk extensively about the small size of the rooms, the lack of amenities, the mold by the windows, the paint flaking from the walls. Mattresses were hard, rooms were small, and the televisions were stocked with free pornography for grizzled customers to enjoy. One irate traveler whose room was broken into found management unresponsive about the issue. Another was promised a trouser press with his room and never received it.

And one other complaint: the noise. Apparently the hotel was doing a great deal of construction work. Guests complained about the dirt in the yard, the loud noise at night, and the constant hurly-burly of the hotel building--something. Perfecting itself.

Some insects begin their lives as caterpillars, larvae--shambling along, oozing, doing nothing but what it takes to survive. Then they slowly seal themselves off in cocoons and they wait for the moment of transformation.

That moment of transformation arrived for the Caesar Hotel in 2006, when the scaffolding and work crews were finally gone.

The travel reports suddenly change radically. The rooms are too small, yes. But travelers gush about the beautiful headboards, the gleaming walls, the modern restaurant and furniture. The number of travel reports starts to increase swiftly, all of them glowing.

In particular, the reports talk about the hotel's new super-modern lobby--and the burnished extinguishers hanging and gleaming from every sleek bracket.

It's a modern Cinderella story--never mind that the protagonist in this case is a hotel rather than a scullery maid. The staff of the hotel remained the same throughout; the layout of the rooms remained the same. Only the decor changed to become more modern while losing none of its classic hotel feel and function. The chrome extinguishers were all in place. For designers hoping to capture a feeling of wealth and modernity, that alone might be sufficient.

To appease the designer in you, see the beautiful chrome fire extinguishers at http://www.FireProtectionOnline.co.uk

The difference between antique or vintage store fixtures and used store fixtures is simple: antique fixtures have a classic look and style. In many cases they are brand new but manufactured in a style of the past such as deco or minimalist. Used store fixtures are just that –- they’ve been used before. They may be only six months old, purchased by a retail store owner who failed quickly. They may be in good shape and being they’re not new, if they are what you are looking for, they’re probably cheap.

Imagine you want to open a bookstore and you learn that in a nearby town a bookstore is having a going out of business sale. Chances are, once he finishes selling his inventory of books to as many people as he can, he’ll sell his fixtures to you at a substantial discount. Keep your eyes open for going out of business sales anywhere near you. They don’t even have to be in the same business for the fixtures to suit your needs. Remember, slatwall panels and gridwall panels can be used to display almost anything.

Buying them at 25 cents on the dollar from a store whose owner may have died, or who may be moving to a new location is far better than ordering them new from a catalogue as long as they are in good shape. If you buy your gridwall and slatwall panels used, you can still accentuate them with modern, state of the art accessories to display your products in the best light possible. When you’re happy with the total look of your store, sit down with your receipts and your adding machine and compare what you spent with what you could have spent buying all new fixtures. Then, take the difference and regard it as the first profit you made in your new store.

It should come as no surprise that the functionality of your home office is paramount to your small business success. A purposefully and beautifully appointed home office is inviting to your senses and can stimulate productivity as well. The addition of a Wall Mural is an easy, cost-effective, and fun decorating idea.

If you think about it, decorating your home office can seem a bit daunting. Images of papers, gadgets, wires, and Post-It notes galore strewn about are not exactly the most relished or relaxing; yet, this is precisely what many home offices have fallen victim to.

Start out by setting aside a good chunk of time to tweak your organization skills.
De-cluttering your room is the best place to start. A cluttered office is not conducive to productivity, by the way. As well, de-cluttering is the simplest and most effective way to create an immediate feeling of calm. It really doesn’t take all that much time (unless you are a real pack rat), and your de-cluttering thereafter should only take five to ten minutes a day.

Once your room is no longer a mess, give it a thorough cleaning. Don’t forget to dust the walls, ceiling, light fixtures, and electronics (keyboards can get really gross!) in addition to your usual cleaning regimen. Before you finish, don’t forget to wipe down phones, computer mice, keyboards, doorknobs, and anything else you handle frequently with antibacterial wipes. Now you can concentrate on creating a more appealing workspace.

A Wall Mural is the perfect choice for adding visual appeal to an otherwise blank or uninteresting wall. Opt for a feast for the eyes while waiting for that fax or email. This is definitely preferable and less nerve-wracking than staring into blank space. Contemplating a beautiful depiction of a serene Japanese temple or mountain stream can give you a mental boost during those annoying down times (such as listening to canned music while waiting for a human to pick up the line) in your typical working day.

Wall Murals are easy to install or, if you choose, they can be installed professionally. The nice thing about the addition of a Wall Mural is that it immediately transforms the entire look of the home office. This alone accomplishes the bulk of the redecorating project, so it is really both cost and time-effective.

Visit the gallery of Wall Murals for a large selection of stunning natural photographic scenes. Choose from cityscapes, mountainscapes, seascapes, desertscapes, natural and man made wonders, such as the Taj Mahal, and more. There is definitely something for everyone in this gallery.

Once your Wall Mural is installed, use the scene as a focal point for your home office decorating. Visit brand name discount stores like Home Goods, TJMaxx, and Marshall’s. Here you can find lamps, desk accessories, clocks, faux plants, and other items that are interesting and complimentary without breaking your budget.

Seeing the Light

Lighting

"Light has illuminated the path of humanity" – While Einstein was probably referring to one of his mind-blowing theories, lighting has also revolutionized the home. Before incandescent and fluorescent lighting, most activities stopped after dusk. Only royalty and the aristocrats had the money for torches, lamps, and candles. Yet nowadays, lighting is used for more than just being able to use the computer to buy dog food at 2 AM in your pajamas. Lighting has become a crucial pillar in the foundation of home decoration and design.

Outside lighting – lighting around your house not only brings an additional layer of security but also can complement your landscaping and outside decorations.

Lamps – lamps are not so much about the light but rather the decoration and style; make sure it matches the rest of your décor. However, a nice soft yellow light would be nice to set a mellow and cozy mood.

Room lights – lighting in your home is critical, not only for mundane things like checking your plummeting stock portfolio in the newspaper but also for illuminating the rest of your furniture. So to have great room lighting, have quality standup lights that can project across the entire room. For the lights installed in the ceiling, either buy new ones that match your décor or at the very least get quality light bulbs that complement your home and suit your lifestyle:

Technologies – there are many kinds of light sources; the two major ones used in residential homes are incandescent and fluorescent. Although fluorescent are big energy-savers, the white light they give off are not very pleasing to the eye. Incandescent light bulbs come in all sorts of strengths from less than 10 to more than a 100 watts although 60 should be plenty. Halogens are also common as room lights. They are actually quite flattering and very powerful, resulting in brilliant light to 300+ watts.

The new corner mount or hip mount option provides additional light and reduces shadows in paint booths and other areas where proper lighting and detail are critical for the illumination of products. The one-piece housing is constructed of 20 gauge pre-painted steel and can be installed at a 45 degree angle, either vertically in a corner, or horizontally between the wall and ceiling (hip mount).

It is designed for use with a 4 foot / 4 lamp, fluorescent light fixture. The symmetry of the enclosure design allows for the front access fixture to be opened in either left or right configuration (for vertical) or up or down configuration (for horizontal).

When used in paint spray booth areas, the fixture enclosure mount is used with a vapor/dust proof (Class I & II, Division 2) light fixture to isolate the fixture from the Class I, Division 1 work area. The panel mount light fixture design provides a simple and efficient means of installation and the 3/16" clear tempered safety glass lens assembly opens to the front of the fixture for easy changing of the fluorescent lamps.

The following is an acceptable method of installing panel mounted fixtures into the corner of a paint spray booth.

Requirements:

* Fixture must be rated Class I, Division 2 and have inside access listing for use in a paint spray booth.

* Panel construction must meet the requirements of NFPA 33 Chapter 3,

"Construction and Design of Spray Areas, Spray Rooms, and Spray Booths."

* Fixture installation wiring to meet the requirements of NFPA 33 Chapter 4,

"Electrical and Other Sources of Ignition."

NOTE: All wiring must be performed by a certified electrician and in accordance

with all national and local electrical codes and regulations.

The dining room light fixture serves two purposes. First, it provides light by which to dine by, but more importantly, it sets the tone for the homeowner's personal style. A grand dining room light fixture is the first thing noticed when you enter the room.

The current trend is candle style chandeliers. They are usually made of hand forged wrought iron, and can be found in single, double and even triple tiers complemented by candle style shades. Candle style shades can vary across designers. Options include resin candle shades that have the look of dripping wax. Onyx style candle shades are unique because of the beauty of natural stone mixed with wrought iron. There is also a line of shades made from real paraffin wax. These shades have the look and feel of real candle wax, but are specially formulated to accept low voltage light bulbs for the convenience of electricity using a light switch.

Some chandeliers are designed to use with real candles. Though they can be very beautiful, they are difficult to use as you need to hand light each candle and be sure to blow out when not in use. For most people, this is not very convenient.

When choosing a chandelier, you need to choose a finish that complements the other fixtures in the room. In example, you would not mix silver and brass in the same room. It is also important to match finish with the colors of the room. Cool tones are complimented by black or silver finishes. Warm tones are complimented by brass or gold finishes.

What is your dining room style? Are you more traditional or contemporary? Or are you going for an elegant look? Wrought iron chandeliers can compliment either a traditional or contemporary style, depending on the chandelier design. A more simple wrought iron piece would go well with the contemporary style, whereas a grand multi tiered chandelier would be considered a more traditional look. An elegant look would be a glass or crystal chandelier.

Though a chandelier is used as a light source, putting the fixture on a dimmer switch allows you to choose a fixture on looks first, while providing the flexibility of how much light the chandelier provides with the dimmer switch.

Lastly, be sure to determine if the chandelier you choose requires any special light bulbs, as they can be expensive and difficult to find. Ideally, the chandelier will come with the appropriate bulbs.

The proper pool table lights is critical to playing your best game of pool. The ideal pool table light fixture is attractive, unobtrusive, and provides just enough illumination without creating a glare. Choosing the right pool table lights for your home need not be difficult. Just keep a few points in mind.

The Best Pool Table Lights for the Job

The most effective pool table lights cover the entire length of the table. Measure your pool table before you start shopping. The majority of pool table lights fixtures available have multiple globes in order to direct several points of light at the table, usually two, three, or four globes. Multiple globes on your pool table lights fixture also help to eliminate any glare. Some fixtures contain multiple globes within one larger fixture.

Traditional vs. Contemporary Pool Table Lights

Pool table lights come in a wide variety of styles and finishes. Traditional, Victorian, Tiffany-style lights are popular pool table lights. These fixtures, modeled after designs by the famous glass artist, Louis Comfort Tiffany, are made of small panes of glass joined with lead piping. These colorful glass pieces are put together to form all manner of designs, logos, and slogans.

Tiffany-style pool table lights are available in one long shade with several bulbs inside the globe or in multiple shades along a single, metal bar. They may be elaborate, multi-color showpieces or relatively simple, one-color pool table lights fixtures.

Other traditional fixtures of pool table lights come in black or brown wrought-iron fixture with alabaster glass shades. Most often the pool table lights fixture is crafted into a scrolled design with multiple glass shades. This style of light fixture is also widely available in bronze, brushed pewter, and brass finishes. pool table lights made from ooden fixtures, too, can lend a warm and homey touch to your poolroom.

Contemporary pool table lights can give your room a clean, sleek, modern look. Bar pool table lights in chrome and brass with simple, smoked glass shades can create such a look. Some pool table light fixtures insert a vibrant touch by adding green, red, and blue colored glass shades.

Something a Little Different

Customize your pool table lights by adding a college or professional sports logo. Tiffany-style lights often incorporate the logo into the glass motif whereas solid glass shades can be etched with your favorite team’s logo. Cheer on the “Fighting Irish” of Notre Dame, the Colorado “Avalanche” Hockey team, or the New England “Patriots” right from your recreation room.

Military logos are also popular designs for pool table lights. The Marine Corps, Navy, Army, and Air Force insignia are all available, both in Tiffany lights and in solid etched glass shades. Also consider “Jack Daniels” logo pool table lights or perhaps one with the “Harley Davidson” logo.

The Technical Stuff

Installing your pool table lights should be relatively easy for the weekend home remodeler. There must be a secure place onto which to mount your pool table light fixture and that it has its own separate electrical box. As with any electrical project, turn off the electrical current before you start working on mounting your pool table lights.

The correct light bulbs go a long way to ensuring your pool table lights fixture is safe as well as creating the right mood. 60-watt bulbs are recommended although some of the pool table lights with multiple shades might look better with 40-watt bulbs instead.

Where to Shop

The Internet has made shopping for pool table lights much easier. A typical search yields hundreds of online retailers of pool table lights. Browse through thousands of pool table lights, right in the privacy of your home. Many Web merchants even offer free shipping and live online customer service. Expect to pay from $150 for simple bar pool table lights to over $1000 for an elaborate Tiffany-style light fixture.

The right pool table lights can give your poolroom that ambiance of casual elegance or rustic charm that you desire as well as providing the lighting necessary to play your best game of pool. Shop carefully; consider all your options, and you’ll enjoy your pool table lights fixture for many years to come.
